Recently, the development design drawings of the first blockbuster "Mario Kart World" on the Nintendo Switch 2 platform were exposed for the first time. According to producer Mitsuyu Yabuki, the early preparations for the game can be traced back to March 2017. After completing "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe", the development team immediately began to plan the innovative direction of the new work.
The concept design drawings released this time show key contents such as character models, track design plans and vehicle prototypes. The track design continues the classic three-dimensional style of the series, including climbable tracks, anti-gravity track sections and real-time weather change systems.
The vehicle design incorporates the characteristic elements of "ARMS" (which Mitsuyu Yabuki participated in the development), and adopts a deformable mechanical structure, indicating that this work may introduce richer vehicle interactive gameplay.
In the latest issue of the "Developer Q&A" column, Kenta Sato, the program director of "Mario Kart World", revealed that the game was originally planned to be launched on the first-generation Switch platform, but due to hardware performance limitations, the development team finally decided to transfer the project to the next-generation console Switch 2 in 2020.
